Four Year Old vs. Newborn at Cheeburger Cheeburger

The other day we ventured out of the house for our first visit to one of our favorite restaurants, Cheeburger Cheeburger. Samuel slept through the entire meal. Annika colored, ate her food, and tackled Elvis. Life is fun. Life is chaotic. We're enjoying every step of it.

Proof that it doesn't always rain in Jersey

Check out my diaps!

Just a quick post because Samuel (ok, really Troy and I) wanted to show you how cute Sam looks in his cloth diapers. Our new friend and cloth diaper mentor/retailer Jenna from Momma Commune Boutique came over to our place on Wednesday afternoon and completed what we needed to switch our little man over to cloth diapering. So far it's been going really well and honestly only adds an additional load to our laundry schedule. Samuel's skin doesn't seem to be as sensitive as his big sister's, but we're hoping that the cloth can curb any lurking skin issues.

Anyway, aren't they cute? For those even remotely interested in cloth diapering, he's wearing a Happy Heiny pocket diaper. Jenna convinced us to buy some Fuzzi Bunz, and I have to admit, they are pretty nice. But for while Sammy is young, we're trying a combo of the "old-fashioned" prefolds and covers, with pocket diapers at night. I don't know though, the pockets are so nice that if we can swing it, I'm going to slowly add to those!

Ok, now I know most people are falling asleep reading this so I'll end for now. Next post won't be about diaps, promise!

Words and Pictures

While the pictures of Annika and Samuel speak volumes, we thought it would be be nice to let everyone know how things are going with our expanded family. First, Samuel has been an absolute joy. He sleeps a lot, feeds well, and is content when he's awake. It seems like our biggest struggle has been trying to figure out how to keep Old Faithful from erupting while we're changing his diaper. Samuel and Jessica have bonded very well.

Annika is adjusting to her brother, but she seems to have turned a corner today. She really loves him and enjoys giving him kisses, but I think that she's been acting out occasionally because of how our lives have changed. Fortunately, our weather has been spectacular since coming home, which makes life much more enjoyable for us. I'm putting a few more pictures up so you can see Annika ice skating, Samuel finishing his bath, Jessica cuddling with Samuel, and our family.
